Outreach Community Ministries Inc. in Carol Stream, IL is hiring a Full-time High School Instructor to educate at-risk students during the academic year and summer program. The role includes recruitment, goal setting, tutoring, and coordinating with schools and families.

The position involves life skills instruction, leadership for program activities, and data input, with a schedule spanning school year and summer weeks, plus occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, education, youth development, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience with high school students.
• Experience in social work, education, or guidance counseling is a plus.
• Ability to teach and tutor high school level English.
• Passion for guiding high school students and building relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and partners.
• Sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income and culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Commitment to Outreach's Mission & Faith.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English or Burmese/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment, intakes, and individual meetings to set goals and provide accountability and support.
• Facilitate life skills instruction, activities, and God Time with leadership for program aspects.
• Provide academic tutoring and support the tutoring portion of the program.
• Maintain communication with schools, parents, and community partners; arrange worksites and transportation; assist with fundraising; data input.
• Member of the high school staff team; report to the High School and College Programs Director.
• Schedule: Academic year Mon. & Fri. 9:00 am – 5:30 pm; Tue–Thu 12:15 pm - 8:45 pm; Summer 8:30 am–5:00 pm; Spring break travel.
