Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid WVDE Coaching Authorization, or eligibility to obtain authorization.
• Successful fingerprint-based background check completed as required.
• Completion of WVSSAC and NFHS coaching education courses: Concussion in Sports, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Illness Prevention.
• Any additional WVSSAC/WVDE or county board required courses.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Ability to maintain annual authorization and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Coach by providing leadership, instruction, supervision, and support for the athletic program.
• Promote educational, physical, social, emotional, and character development of student-athletes.
• Assist in administration and operation of the athletic program and maintain compliance with WVSSAC and policies.
• Supervise student managers and other support personnel; implement program rules and disciplinary procedures.
• Maintain participation records and monitor student-athlete eligibility for extracurricular/interscholastic credit.
