Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a High School English Teacher (1.0 FTE) for Invest Roosevelt Alternative High School. This 10-month position aligns with the 2026-2027 fiscal year and follows the Invest Salary Schedule with a $5,000 stipend.

Required: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with English endorsement; Highly Qualified in English; strong written and oral communication; technology integration into curriculum. Reports to the Building Principal.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
• Highly Qualified in English (BA/BX- Secondary).
• Demonstrates teaching and leadership skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Standards.
• Demonstrates the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning: technology integration into the curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
• Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
• Provide grades and administer assessments timely.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Provide ongoing communication to parents on student progress and classroom activities.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
• Engage students in learning process, differentiate as needed.
• Other duties as directed.
