Job summary

Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School seeks a certified, or on the pathway to, experienced special education teacher to deliver ELA instruction to high school students.

The role reports to the Principal and emphasizes collaboration with department peers and other content areas. Responsibilities include planning with specialists, differentiating instruction to meet IEP goals, and documenting student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in ELA preferred.
• NYS certification Special Education preferred (must be on the pathway).
• At least 2 years prior teaching experience in middle school preferred.
• Demonstrated success in non-traditional and/or urban school settings.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and differentiate instruction to meet IEP goals.
• Write IEP reports and submit high-quality reports on a deadline.
• Use varied instructional strategies to differentiate learning.
• Progress monitor student performance and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
