Qualifications

• State of Ohio teaching license or certificate preferred not required.
• Current BCI/FBI, PAP on file with required certifications to keep PAP valid.
• Evidence of good moral character per Ohio Administrative Code 3301-20-01.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Coaching and administrative capabilities.
• Coaching experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of sport fundamentals and conditioning.
• Ability to identify strengths/ deficiencies and provide feedback.
• Organizational and problem solving skills.
• Effective communication (oral/written).
• Ability to relate with and inspire young athletes.
• Willingness to invest time to develop a successful program.

Responsibilities

• Encourage students to participate in the program.
• Balance athletic and character development of all team members.
• Follow budget and purchasing procedures.
• Comply with fundraising guidelines.
• Manage equipment inventory and storage.
• Assist with locker room and uniform issues.
• Instruct players in care and prevention of injuries.
• Adhere to OHSAA and district policies.
• Instruct on proper use of equipment and training.
• Report maintenance needs to Athletic Director.
• Schedule practices and scrimmages in coordination with Athletic Office.
• Monitor player behavior during all program activities.
• Develop and enforce training rules with Athletic Trainer.
• Organize filming of games; review game films.
• Assist AD in scheduling opponents.
• Contribute to public relations with local media.
• Assist in selecting and evaluating assistant coaches.
• Supervise and develop growth of assistant coaches.
• Assist players in acquiring athletic scholarships.
• Collaborate with feeder programs.
• Monitor weekly eligibility with Athletic Office.
• Participate in Awards Program and booster meetings.
• Encourage multi-sport participation and conditioning.
• Promote school activities and sports participation.
• Ensure insurance/eligibility/waivers are met.
• Remain current and develop as a coach.
• Confirm transportation arrangements.
• Communicate with staff to ensure team approach.
• Help maintain safety and security in building.
• Use district email regularly.
