Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, or related area.

  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably in a public school setting.

Responsibilities

High School Assistant Principal

Location: Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. This full‑time position reports to a Principal and is based at one of our Family Service Centers.

Job Description

As an educational leader, the Assistant Principal collaborates with parents, learners, support staff, certificated teachers, counselors, and administrators to facilitate an online‑based instructional program and achieve superior outcomes for each learner. The role supports teaching staff in fostering evidence‑based, inclusive instructional practices through Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support and Universal Design for Learning. The Assistant Principal leads daily instruction, provides technology and instructional support, engages families through regular communication, and coordinates with school services to deliver appropriate social and emotional well‑being services.

The Assistant Principal operates in compliance with state and federal laws, school policies, and guidelines, ensuring all staff uphold these standards. The position reports directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities.
  • Contribute to innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
  • Build and promote a positive culture and capacity among designated teams.
  • Lead professional learning initiatives for all staff relative to school goals and act as a model/exemplar by engaging in own professional learning and growth.
  • Drive initiatives in line with school improvement objectives and in collaboration with the School Improvement Team.
  • Provide leadership to professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long‑ and short‑term plans.
  • Conduct high‑quality classroom observations and teacher evaluations pursuant to CCA and PDE‑approved guidelines.
  • Proactively conduct regular learner outreach, including digital communication and home visits.
  • Participate in meetings and hearings related to compulsory attendance, student safety, and children and youth services requirements.
  • Support and participate in out‑of‑classroom student experiences, including field trips, clubs, school‑sponsored activities, and other opportunities.
  • Ensure collaborative compliance of student enrollment, records, attendance, and health requirements.
  • Plan for and respond to emergency situations in cooperation with staff and public‑safety agencies.
  • Demonstrate a visible commitment to ongoing growth in self and others and participate in district and site professional growth programs.
  • Communicate with students with mutual respect while implementing CCA’s positive and effective discipline policy.
  • Implement all federal, state, and school legal requirements, policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those specific to special education, EL learners, and learners with disabilities.
  • Take ownership in managing attendance, conduct, and health of learners and assume responsibility for appropriate interventions, including attendance improvement conferences and truancy hearings.
  • Resolve learner problems escalated by caretakers and teachers.
  • Participate in the delivery of special education services to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and school policies.
  • Serve as Local Education Agency representative at IEP and 504 meetings.
  • Assist with implementation and coordination of state testing to ensure maximum participation and learner success.
  • Engage in learner recruitment efforts, including in‑state trips, presentations, Q & A sessions, and the media.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new teachers and/or staff.
  • Implement all Board policies as directed by the President/CEO, Executive Vice Presidents, and/or other Senior Administrators.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, or related area.
  • Must possess a valid PA K‑12 Principal Certificate (or be enrolled in an approved principal certification program set to complete by the end of the 23‑24 school year).
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a public‑school setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer‑focused approach with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Team player with the ability to lead a collaborative culture.
  • Technologically proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products, learning management systems, student information systems, and web‑conferencing tools.
  • Ability to work from a CCA Family Service Center on a full‑time and regular basis.
  • Frequent travel required.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a school administrator, preferably in a public‑school setting.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ teaching experience, preferably in a public‑school setting.
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This is not a work‑from‑home position. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role requiring the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend, or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.
