Job summary

The Iowa Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to serve as a Community Corrections Supervisor for the High Risk Unit (HRU) in the 8th District. This leadership role will supervise HRU operations, support staff safety, oversee equipment and evidence procedures, and coordinate with law enforcement partners across Iowa.

You’ll collaborate with district and state partners, administer policies, and ensure actions comply with state laws.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field.
• Experience in human services, criminal justice, or corrections equal to four years.
• Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory processes, safety, and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate direct reports, assign work, manage schedules, and address personnel actions.
• Administer personnel and program policies in accordance with the Iowa Code and laws.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and partner agencies across Iowa.
• Oversee equipment, vehicles, and evidence procedures for the HRU.
• Ensure staff safety and conduct critical-incident reviews as required.
• Prepare and communicate statistical information to district leadership.
