Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital seeks an experienced Boiler Operator to maintain high-pressure boilers, ensure safe operation, and support heating and power generation. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and monitoring of water quality, while keeping accurate operation logs.

The role requires a State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least three years of boiler experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License required.
• Three years' experience with high-pressure boilers required.
• Experience with advanced control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, cleans, lubricates, paints, and repairs high-pressure boilers and related equipment using safe procedures.
• Schedules and coordinates annual shutdowns and inspections.
• Tests water quality and analyzes data to keep steam systems efficient.
• Maintains logs of boiler operations: pressure, temperature, fuel use.
• Cleans and maintains boiler components to prevent corrosion and sediment buildup.
• Responds quickly to emergencies or malfunctions during operation.

Job Description Summary

Conducts preventative maintenance and operates high pressure boilers to generate steam for heating and power generation.

Essential Functions

• Inspects, cleans, lubricates, paints, and repairs high-pressure boilers and associated mechanical equipment using safe and efficient processes, adhering to all policies and procedures.
• Conducts regular inspections of the boiler and its components to identify and address any issues. Works with and schedules inspectors for annual shutdowns.
• Tests and conducts analyses of water quality and other associated equipment to maintain efficient operations of steam systems.
• Records and maintains accurate logs of boiler operations, including pressure, temperature, and fuel consumption.
• Cleans and maintains the boiler and its components to prevent corrosion and buildup of sediment and scale.
• Responds quickly and effectively to any emergencies or malfunctions that may occur during boiler operation.

Education Requirement

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement

State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License, required.
