Job summary

Orting School District is seeking a paraeducator to work in the life skills classroom under certificated staff supervision, providing instructional or other appropriate services, and working one-on-one with an assigned student.

The position includes duties such as assisting with toileting, feeding, suctioning, transferring students, and supporting staff in instructional program design. A high school diploma and apprenticeship or AA degree are among requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• AA degree or higher preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to utilize strategies to provide instructional support.
• Must meet minimum scores on required assessments.
• First Aid/CPR certification among requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist students 1:1 or in small groups across content areas.
• Assist staff in designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs.
• Supervise and discipline students as needed.
• File papers, run errands, operate duplication machines, attendance, and clerical duties.
• Upon district training, serve as Parent Designated Adult (PDA) when assigned.
• Diabetic health plan management with PDA training.
