Job summary

Orting School District seeks a High Needs Paraeducator to provide one-on-one instructional support in the Orting Elementary School resource room, under supervision of certificated staff.

The role requires responsibility for direct student support, collaboration with teachers, and adherence to district policies. The successful candidate will participate in required training and maintain professional communication with families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment, or
• AA degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits at 100 level or above, or completed paraeducator apprenticeship.
• High School diploma; AA degree preferred; ability to relate to students, staff and parents; strong communication; ability to provide instructional support.
• Pass reading, writing, math and technology assessments; First Aid/CPR certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist students one-on-one in the resource classroom under supervision.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, transfers, and health plan management per PDA training.
• Support instructional programs and monitor student progress.
• Support staff in discipline and group discussions; perform other duties as assigned.
