Job summary

Orting School District is seeking a Life Skills Paraeducator to work under certificated staff in a life skills classroom, providing instructional support and one-on-one assistance to assigned students.

The role includes duties such as assisting with toileting and feeding, implementing instructional programs, and supervising students in small groups. District training will include the Parent Designated Adult (PDA) program as required by Washington state law.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• AA degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to utilize appropriate strategies to provide instructional support.
• Work Skills Assessments: reading, writing, math, and tech scores.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students with toileting including catheterization.
• Feeding and care (oral and tube feeding) as applicable.
• Suctioning and transferring non-ambulatory students.
• Assist with implementing and evaluating instructional programs.
• Supervise students and support discipline as needed.
• Lead group discussions and support in various content areas.
