Job summary

CTG is seeking a High Availability Mainframe Developer to join our client’s team in a remote, 12-month engagement. You will develop and support mainframe applications in a high-availability environment, provide Tier III production support, and participate in Agile ceremonies within a High Availability Scrum Team.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Assembler, CICS, and COBOL, plus expertise in debugging, change management, and documentation.

Responsibilities

CTG is seeking to fill a High Availability Mainframe Developer position for our client.

Location: Remote Duration: 12 months

Duties

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and support business‑critical mainframe applications in a high‑availability environment.
• Analyze requirements and implement application code and configuration changes.
• Provide Tier III production support, troubleshooting, debugging, and root‑cause analysis for complex mainframe issues.
• Test application changes and prepare implementation and rollback documentation.
• Diagnose escalated production incidents and document resolutions, findings, and corrective actions.
• Maintain application runbooks and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with the High Availability Scrum Team to complete development, testing, and production support deliverables.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide status updates, address code review feedback, and ensure deliverables meet established coding standards and acceptance criteria.

Skills

• Strong hands‑on development experience with Assembler, CICS, and COBOL.
• Expertise in mainframe application troubleshooting, debugging, and production support.
• Knowledge of application testing, implementation, and change management processes.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Preferred experience with FIS Systems, Connex, JCL, DB2, Agile/Scrum, or core banking and financial services applications.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience developing and supporting mainframe applications in complex, high‑availability environments.
• Experience resolving production incidents, implementing application enhancements, and providing Tier III support.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum team and delivering changes in accordance with established quality standards.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $69.00 to $74.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
