Job summary

North Thurston Public Schools in Lacey, WA is seeking a Paraeducator for the Hi-SEL program at North Thurston High School. The position supports instruction and student care for students with special needs, in inclusive settings, 6.5 hours per day, 189 days per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s Degree or 72 quarter credits or ETS ParaPro test.
• May be required to be certified in first aid, CPR, or operation of defibrillators.
• Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with instruction and student supervision.
• Assist with daily tasks including basic health support as directed by the nurse.
• Promote independent living skills and social/behavioral development.
• Maintain student progress and document behavior and outcomes.
• Perform limited clerical duties as needed (copying, record keeping, etc.).
• Follow district policies and safety procedures and communicate effectively with staff.
