Brown University Health seeks a Pathology Technologist to perform complex clinical laboratory tests across multiple sections of the Pathology Department at Rhode Island Hospital. You will interpret abnormal results, calibrate instruments, and maintain quality controls while preparing specimens and reporting findings to physicians.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in a lab science and national certification or eligibility via ABHES/NAACLS pathways, with at least one year of clinical lab

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in a lab science such as chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards.
• National certification by ASCP or equivalent in any of the offered categories such as Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, or any other recognized categorical certifications.
• OR Eligible for national certification with laboratory training including completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization approved by HHS
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Responsabilidades

• Prepares and determines suitable solutions, reagents and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures; may prepare variations of same for special tests.
• Performs complex clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Pathology Department requiring professional knowledge to monitor procedures and interpret results.
• Calibrates instruments and maintains quality controls; reports results and communicates with physicians as needed.
• Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and assists in training students and new staff.
