Job summary

Join UAB Medicine's hematology and coagulation lab team in Birmingham, performing automated hematology, urinalysis, coagulation studies, and related analyses. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with NAACLS/ASCP/AMT internship completed or equivalent
• ASCP or AMT certification to be obtained within 15 months from date of hire
• BLS certification may be required within 30 days from date of hire depending on patient-related care performed

Responsibilities

• Perform, check accuracy and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids and other substances
• Assist supervisor and/or team lead with evaluating new instruments and methods, reagent preparation, quality control information, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance
• Assist team lead with apheresis procedures, bone marrows, coordinating educational sessions, computer operations, and quality control/improvement activities

Education

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field with 12-month NAACLS/ASCP/AMT internship

Certification from ASCP or AMT within 15 months from date of hire
