Job summary

Metals USA in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Helper to support receiving, inventory control and order filling in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The role requires attention to detail, ability to read instructions and safety policies, and willingness to work day or night shifts.

You will operate equipment, tag materials, load/unload trailers and ensure accurate documentation while following OSHA safety rules. A starting salary with benefits and upward mobility is offered.

Qualifications

• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals).
• Proficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to read and interpret documents furnished.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience working with Heavy Equipment preferred.
• Detail Oriented with ability to inspect material for quality.
• Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.
• Tags materials for proper identification.
• Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery.
• Operates yard truck for loading/unloading trailers.
• Operates cranes to load/unload trailers.
• Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers.
• Secures loaded material into truck.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
• Ensures machine operation centers are loaded with material for production.
• Restocks material
• Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices.

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)

• Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

• Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Steel-toed boots or metatarsal boots
• Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouse

External Description

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Helper in the Tulsa, OK location. The Helper performs an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming material, picking and filling orders from inventory and managing, organizing and retrieving inventory in the warehouse.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.

• Operates cranes to load/unload trailers.
