Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) to teach and mentor student pilots at Fort Rucker, AL. You will lead flight instruction for UH‑72, with emphasis on safety and mission readiness.

Prior military experience is not required but preferred for qualification and reliability. Responsibilities include instructing across a wide NAS area, maintaining safety standards, and leveraging extensive flight-instruction hours to advance cadets toward aviation roles.

Qualifications

  • Flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft, helicopter class and instrument ratings.
  • Must have helicopter flight instruction background per FAR rules.

Job description

Position

Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) – Fort Rucker, Alabama. Applicants selected for hire will provide instruction in the UH‑72. Military aviation experience or UH‑72 qualification is not required.

Responsibilities
  • Teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive training designed to prepare them for military aviator roles.
  • Conduct flight instruction across an area encompassing more than 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System.
  • Maintain safety standards and uphold the company’s safety record of over 2.5 million hours of flight instruction.
Qualifications
  • ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate.
  • ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or a graduate of a DoD rotary‑wing instructor pilot course.
  • 1500 total flight hours, creditable under FAR61.51 and AR95‑1, including in‑command or second‑in‑command flight time.
  • Minimum of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight‑simulator instrument, or weather pilot time, with documented instruction of students in instrument flight training.
  • Night flying time of 75 hours and instructor time of 500 hours.
  • Current FAA Second‑Class Medical Certificate before beginning training.
  • Certified Night‑Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with at least 200 hours of NVG time.
Compensation

$55.85 per hour. The range may vary based on job responsibilities, experience, skills, and market data.
