Job summary

The City of Hampton's Public Works Fleet Division is seeking a Fleet Technician to perform advanced maintenance and repair in our Heavy Off Road Shop, focusing on dump trucks, construction equipment, earth moving equipment, trailers and street sweepers. You will apply diagnostic and mechanical skills within a supportive team environment.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant automotive training, and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of full-time repair/maintenance experience for the shop's vehicle class.
• Experience with preventive maintenance checks and diagnostics; electrical, mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced maintenance and repair on dump trucks, construction equipment, earth moving equipment, trailers and street sweepers.
• Operate within established procedures and be supported by the shop Team Lead.
• Maintain a complete set of automotive tools and comply with safety and background check requirements.
