Job summary
Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an Automotive Technician to perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment, including VDOE inspections. You will work under general supervision and support preventive maintenance across various fleet assets.
The role requires strong knowledge of gas/diesel systems, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic controls. A valid Virginia CDL and forklift license are required within six months, with six years of hands-on
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License and Class B CDL within 6 months.
- Forklift license within 6 months and ownership of personal tools.
- Six years of hands-on vehicle servicing and repair experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced to complex diagnostics and repair on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct VDOE mandated safety inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate with team members and assist in planning and scheduling work.
- Provide guidance to lower-level technicians and ensure compliance with standards.
