Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an Equipment/Truck Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy mobile equipment including forklifts, loaders, and trucks. Responsibilities include diagnostic tasks, routine maintenance, parts replacement, and keeping accurate service records.

The role requires proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, along with problem-solving skills, manual dexterity, and tool proficiency. Drug screen and background check may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge: strong understanding of mobile equipment diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Problem-solving: strong logical thinking to diagnose and fix complex issues.
• Manual dexterity: physically fit to handle heavy parts and work in awkward positions.
• Tool proficiency: skilled with hand tools, power tools, pneumatic wrenches, and welding equipment.
• Record keeping: maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, troubleshooting, service and repair tasks on heavy mobile equipment including engines, hydraulics, rockets, brakes, and cooling systems.
• Complete routine maintenance such as oil/filter changes, lubrication, and brake service per manufacturer guidance.
• Replace worn parts, disassemble/assemble major components like powertrains.
• Overhaul and test major systems to ensure efficiency.
• Maintain service records and schedule future maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory and ensure a safe work area.
