Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment and Diesel Mechanic to repair, maintain, and inspect a fleet of trucks, tractors, trailers and containers. The role covers diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and system repairs across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical domains.

Work is outdoors in varying weather; the company enforces DOT, safety and environmental standards and offers growth, weekly pay and benefits. Strong mechanical aptitude and pass of drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience required.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
• Two years’ mechanical heavy-duty truck or heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Must pass drug screen, physical and background check.

Responsibilities

• Conducts diagnostic, troubleshooting, service and repair tasks for mechanical, fuel, brake, suspension, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance (oil/filters, lubrication, tires, brakes) on tractors, trailers and heavy equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
• Patches holes in trailers/containers as needed.
• Manages and maintains spare parts inventory.
• Schedules routine or emergency maintenance with the General Manager.
• Keeps accurate records of all work performed.
• Performs annual DOT inspections and sign-offs.
• Communicates and works safely and professionally with others.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
