Job summary

HireArt is assisting a client in finding a Heavy Machinery Operator to safely operate 20-ton mining vehicles and support testing for performance and safety. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for experienced operators who value reliability and teamwork.

You will complete pre/post-trip inspections, provide feedback to engineering teams, and travel up to 50% with potential training in Sunol, CA before deployment to Arizona.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verifiable heavy machinery operator experience.
• Experience operating rigid-frame or articulated haul trucks is preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check, road test, and DOT requirements.
• No major moving violations in past 3 years; no DUI/DWI in past 10 years.

Job description

HireArt is helping our client find Heavy Machinery Operators to support the safe operation, testing, and readiness of large-scale mining vehicles while representing the company with professionalism and a customer-service mindset.

In this role, you’ll operate and maintain 20-ton mining vehicles, perform routine inspections, and support hardware and software testing to ensure vehicle performance, safety, and reliability. You’ll also provide valuable feedback to engineering teams to improve system functionality and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and adaptable, with proven heavy machinery experience and strong attention to detail. You take pride in maintaining operational excellence and are open to learning about advanced vehicles and autonomous systems.

As a Heavy Machinery Operator, you'll:

• Safely operate 20-ton mining vehicles and other fleet equipment as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete DVIRs, and report maintenance or performance issues promptly.
• Support hardware and software testing, providing detailed written and verbal feedback to engineering teams.
• Uphold the highest safety and compliance standards, ensuring readiness of all assigned vehicles.
• Travel as required, including up to 50% travel and potential initial training in Sunol, CA before deployment to Arizona.

Requirements

• 5+ years of verifiable heavy machinery operator experience
• Experience operating rigid-frame haul trucks is strongly preferred; experience operating articulated haul trucks or similar heavy mining equipment may also be considered
• Ability to safely drive and back 20-ton vehicles for extended periods and operate other fleet vehicles as needed
• Ability to complete approximately one week of training in Sunol, CA before deployment to Arizona
• A valid CDL-A driver's license is preferred but not required
• Ability to pass a background check and road test
• Ability to meet all DOT driver requirements, including drug testing, MVR review, and physical requirements
• No more than two minor moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle within the past 3 years
• No serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle within the past 5 years
• No DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving convictions involving alcohol or drugs within the past 10 years
• No preventable accidents while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle within the past 3 years
• No preventable DOT-recordable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle within the past 10 years
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and follow written and verbal instructions
• Professional and team-oriented, with the flexibility to assist with additional tasks as needed
• Interest in driver-assistance and autonomous technology and a willingness to learn new skills
