Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy and light service equipment across diesel and gasoline fleets. The role involves diagnosing engines, hydraulics and electrical systems to ensure safe, productive operations.

The technician will read repair orders, communicate defects with operators and supervisors, and maintain accurate records in the fleet management system.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical and drive train systems.
• ASE certifications and Tier 4 emission systems knowledge preferred.
• 1+ year of experience repairing heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment to maximize safety and productivity.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, diesel and gasoline vehicles (including heavy machinery).
• Repair engines, transmissions, chassis and hydraulic systems and overhauls as needed.
• Read condition reports and communicate defects with operators and supervisor.
• Document parts usage, times and complete related paperwork in the work orders.
• Record hours, fuel and oil usage for Dossier fleet management system.
