Job summary

Republic Services in Kentucky seeks a Heavy Equipment Technician to repair and maintain heavy, compact, light service equipment and trucks. You will diagnose mechanical problems and perform preventive maintenance, documenting work orders and parts usage.

Typical tasks include engine, hydraulic, electrical, exhaust and emission system work, with focus on safety and reliability. ASE certifications and Tier 4 knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification and advanced knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical and drive train components.
• At least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy equipment.
• Trade school certificate or degree in a mechanical field and electrical diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and related vehicles.
• Perform electrical, diesel and gasoline maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes and hydraulics.
• Read repair orders and communicate with supervisors to clarify defects and prevent future repairs.
• Document parts usage, times and complete work orders; enter data into management systems.
• Follow safety policies and perform engine overhauls as needed.
