Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose and repair a range of heavy, compact, light service equipment and trucks. Responsibilities include electrical, hydraulic, fuel, brakes, and emission systems maintenance to keep operations safe and productive.

The role requires ASE certifications, 1 year of heavy equipment experience, and trade school or equivalent certification. OSHA awareness and welding/fabrication skills are a plus, with strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification evidence of advanced knowledge in air brakes, hydraulics, electrical and drive train.
• Minimum 1 year of experience repairing heavy equipment and related systems.
• Trade school certificate or degree and electrical diagnostics certification.
• Working knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment.
• Perform maintenance on electrical, diesel and gasoline vehicles including engines and suspensions.
• Read repair orders, communicate defects to supervisor, and advise operators on preventive techniques.
• Complete repair documentation and track parts usage and labor times.
• Maintain daily fuel/oil usage records and input data into fleet software.
• Follow all safety policies and perform engine overhauls as needed.
