Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair, and service diesel trucks per dealer and factory standards. You will collaborate with the parts dept, document work, and road test vehicles as needed.

The role includes supervising apprentices and adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines. Ideal candidates have a basic mechanical aptitude, 1–2 years of experience, and a valid driver's license with CDL potential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
  • 1–2 years of mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to obtain CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel trucks per repair orders with accuracy.
  • Communicate with parts dept to obtain needed parts.
  • Document all work on the repair order and keep vehicle clean.
  • Road test vehicles or refer to test technician when needed.
  • Supervise apprentices and stay current with safety regulations.

Our unique footprint allows us to provide a diverse range of products and services across many industries, and across the country.RESPONSIBILITIES for Diesel TechniciansDiesel Technicians performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair on diesel Trucks or equipment.Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.Diesel Technician will documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.Diesel Technician will participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.Supervises work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned.Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.Keeps shop area neat and clean for your safety and safety of other diesel technicians.Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
