Carter Machinery, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician in Dulles, VA. The role offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus and starts at an hourly wage range of $30.45–$43.47 with 1st shift. Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing Caterpillar and allied equipment, and performing engine and electrical rebuilds.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair.
• High school diploma or GED, required.
• Self-directed with ability to work with limited supervision.
• Proficiency in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position.

Responsibilities

• Apply troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
• Service, diagnose and repair both Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed. Reassemble to factory specifications.
• Rebuild any engine and all components (transmissions, differentials, electrical, computers, etc.).
• Perform electrical and computer repairs.
• Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins.
• Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms.
