Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair Caterpillar and allied equipment in a first-shift shop environment. The role includes engine and component rebuilds, electrical and computer diagnostics, and meticulous reporting.

We require a minimum of two years’ experience with heavy equipment repair and a high school diploma or GED. Proficiency with service manuals, parts requisitions, and basic computer tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Self-directed with ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Apply troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
• Service, diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed; reassemble to factory specifications.
• Rebuild engines and components (transmissions, differentials, electrical, computers, etc.).
• Perform electrical and computer repairs.
• Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins.
• Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate service reports, and other reports.
