Job summary

Ohio CAT is seeking a skilled Caterpillar Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT heavy equipment in our shop. You will work on dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, and haul trucks to ensure peak performance.

Qualified candidates bring at least a high school diploma or GED, plus 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Caterpillar equipment and familiarity with CAT diagnostic tools ET and SIS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical schooling preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience or 5+ years of hands-on Caterpillar/heavy equipment repair.
• Experience with CAT diagnostics and service procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT heavy equipment in shop and field settings.
• Perform diagnostics on CAT engines, drive-train, electrical, and hydraulics.
• Inspect, rebuild components, and ensure peak equipment performance.
• Use Caterpillar ET and SIS diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain safety protocols and detailed service records.

What You’ll Do

As a Caterpillar Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintainingCAT heavy equipment in our shop. From dozers and excavators to wheel loaders and haul trucks, you’ll ensure every Caterpillar machine performs at peak efficiency.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performing diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar engines, drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Inspecting and maintaining CAT equipment, rebuilding components, and ensuring optimal performance.
• Servicing air conditioning systems, maintaining detailed service records, and collaborating with fellow technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
• Using Caterpillar diagnostic toolslike Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions.
• Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools(ET, SIS).
• Welding experience is a plus!

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
• Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
• Dexterity Normal
• Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
