Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician for the 2nd shift in our Delaware service operation.

The role involves diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar and allied equipment, rebuilding engines and components, and performing electrical/computer repairs. The position requires at least two years of heavy equipment experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience with heavy construction equipment and repair.
• Self-directed with ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, including days/nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Apply troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
• Service, diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed; reassemble to factory specifications.
• Rebuild engines and components (transmissions, differentials, electrical, computers, etc.).
• Perform electrical and computer repairs.
• Interpret maintenance manuals/bulletins.
• Prepare parts requisitions, returns, and service reports.
