Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a hands-on Equipment Operator to bale and load waste materials at our Georgia site. You will operate heavy equipment, perform daily maintenance, grease/relubricate machinery and ensure safe operation within the facility’s grounds.

You must meet the requirements for forklift certification, read gauges, and communicate with co-workers via two-way radio. The role requires outdoor work and adherence to all safety policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station / Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
• Operate excavator, forklift/bobcat, front-loader, baler, backhoe, track hoe, bull dozer, compactor and/or steer equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste into trailers.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks of equipment.
• Grease and lubricate equipment; check and add fluids daily.
• Steer, guide and operate listed equipment at the site; communicate with team via two-way radio.
• Substitute for other operators as needed.
• Clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment and maintain gear mechanisms.
• Comply with all laws, policies and directives from supervisors.
• Maintain the appearance of grounds and facility.
• Attend safety and branch meetings.
• Perform other duties as required by management.
