Job summary

Aecon Utilities is seeking an experienced equipment operator to join our team in the United States. This role involves excavating live utilities, operating heavy equipment, and following strict safety and reporting protocols.

The position requires completing a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen, CSTS-2020 certification, and Ground Disturbance training. Travel to project sites may be required; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of operator experience excavating live utilities.
• Experience in distribution natural gas utility installation.
• Aptitude for mechanical application of truck controls and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment functions independently and safely.
• Move materials and equipment; perform trenching, excavation, grading, and compaction.
• Complete safe excavations; understand sloping and benching requirements.
• Coordinate machine actions; respond to signals from team members.
• Interpret stakes and signage on the land.
• Ensure all reporting requirements are fulfilled.
• Work under stress and meet timelines and deadlines.
• Adhere to site-specific rules and regulations.
