Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure, an integrated engineering and construction company serving the Electric, Natural Gas, and Telecommunications industries, is seeking an Operator II. You will join a 2–4-person crew and operate a mini excavator to dig around live utilities, placing utilities to new and existing residential, multifamily and commercial units.

A CDL Class A is required, and you must pass background checks and a pre-employment drug screen.

Qualifications

• One (1+) plus years of experience in backhoe/mini excavator operation is required.
• One (1+) plus years of experience digging and working around underground utilities is required.
• Two (2+) plus years of demonstrated experience in dry utilities preferred.
• Three (3+) plus years’ experience in a construction role is required.
• Class A CDL Required.
• Experience reading basic prints and Underground Facility Location Sketch is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maneuvers, navigates, or drives vehicles or mechanized equipment or passenger vehicles.
• Uses either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
• Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Determines compliance with laws, regulations, or standards and communicates abnormal working conditions to appropriate parties.
• Mid-level labor tasks: hand digging, traffic control, equipment ops, loading materials.
• Proficient with utility print and map reading.
• Has performed at least 6 months independent operation of equipment; knows basic safety regulations.
• Meets company and customer specifications for trench or backhoe jobs.
• Exposes underground utilities manually.
• Operates truck with safety regulations compliance.
• Follows DOT reporting procedures and company policies.
• Maintains paperwork including DVIR and driver’s log book.
• Inspects equipment and ensures current licenses, tags, permits, and insurance.
• Cleans, greases, checks fluids, and inspects equipment for safe operation.
• Works with team using hand signals to excavate safely.
• Follows 811 digging laws and safe digging practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
