City of Lincoln & Lancaster County Solid Waste Management seeks a Utility Equipment Operator III to keep operations running safely and efficiently at the public landfill. Responsibilities include grading, road and drainage work, daily inspections, minor repairs, and assisting customers during waste unloading.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a Utility Equipment Operator II in the operation of heavy-duty equipment.

• Conduct daily equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Follow all site plans, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Inspect loads when needed and identify prohibited or hazardous materials.
• Support safe traffic flow and assist customers during waste unloading when appropriate.
• Protect landfill systems (liner, gas collection, etc.) and report any damage immediately.

What You'll Do

• Operate heavy equipment to safely manage, distribute, and compact solid waste

Hours: Four10-hour days. Work hours scheduled between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; work scheduled will require a minimum of four (4) days a week; work on weekends and holidays may be part of regular schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Two years of experience as a Utility Equipment Operator II in the operation of heavy-duty equipment

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.

Necessary Special Requirements

• A valid driver's license when operating a motor vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties
