Job summary

Veit & Company, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders on construction sites.

You will excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete, with occasional equipment repair duties. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of operating construction equipment, plus OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 6–12 months of construction equipment experience.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation principles and safe handling.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR and safety training required.
• Ability to read grade stakes and site plans.
• Good oral and written communication; basic math skills.
• Punctuality and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment on site or highway construction.
• Follows safety procedures and reports hazards.
• Performs routine inspection and basic maintenance.
• Assists in training entry-level workers.
• Reviews trenching requirements and protection measures.
• Keeps foreman informed of actions affecting operations.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
