Job summary

Veit & Company, Inc. seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers and other equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth and pour pavement.

You will follow OSHA safety procedures and coordinate with foremen to ensure safe, efficient operations. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of equipment experience, plus knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6–12 months equipment operating experience.
• Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment under varying working conditions.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR and safety training required.
• Ability to read grade stakes and site plans.
• Strong communication and math skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment of various sizes on site.
• Follow safety procedures and report issues.
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance.
• Assist in training entry-level staff.
• Identify underground utilities before excavating.
• Review trenching requirements with supervisors.
• Keep supervisors informed of tasks affecting operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
