Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate transfer station equipment and support loading and unloading processes.

The role requires adherence to safety protocols, attention to schedules, and teamwork to maintain efficient operations. The successful candidate will participate in training opportunities, comply with all safety rules, and contribute to site cleanliness and customer safety.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the US.
• High school diploma or GED; two years of heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
• Able to work as part of a team and adapt to varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the facility per scheduled hours.
• Oversee truck dumping schedules and trailer switching.
• Keep public areas clean according to daily/weekly/monthly schedules.
• Ensure customers use the transfer station safely and per rules.
• Meet loading schedules to ensure drivers are ready to meet production.
• Direct incoming trucks to proper unloading areas safely.
• Follow safety checks and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Participate in training and company initiatives to support our mission.
