Job summary

The Town of Cohasset is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator for the Recycling Transfer Facility. This full-time role involves operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance, and supporting daily solid waste and recycling operations.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, two years of technical training or experience, a valid DOT medical card, and a Class B CDL. CDL class A is preferred. Benefits and weekend shift differential apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus two years of technical or vocational training/experience in heavy equipment.
• Valid DOT medical card required.
• Recycling & transfer facility employees must hold a Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (front-end loader, backhoe, sweeper, etc.) to support public works and facility operations.
• Support solid waste, recycling, landfill, and baling processes.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Assist with field operations and labor tasks as needed.
• Complete manual labor tasks associated with equipment operation and public works activities.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures.
