Job summary

The Town of Cohasset is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator to join its team at the Recycling Transfer Facility. This position supports solid waste and recycling operations through safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities include operating front-end loader, backhoe, sweeper, and routine inspections, plus assisting with field operations and general labor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus 2+ years of heavy equipment operation training/experience.
• Valid DOT medical card and Class B CDL required.
• CDL-A is preferred for facility operations.
• Experience with routine inspections and basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (front-end loader, backhoe, sweeper, etc.) for public works tasks.
• Support recycling and solid waste operations, including baling and landfill work.
• Conduct routine inspections and safety checks on equipment and vehicles.
• Assist with field operations and labor tasks as needed.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools.
• Maintain a safe work environment following established procedures.
