Job summary

APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Construction, a CRH Company, seeks a Construction Equipment Operator/General Utility to operate various earthmoving machines across multiple job sites in Kansas. The role emphasizes safety, daily inspections, and adherence to project requirements.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel to remote sites. Pre-employment checks and PPE compliance are required, with opportunities for growth within the CRH family.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of construction equipment and machinery—such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes—efficiently and safely across different job sites.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations.
• Report issues or incidents promptly to supervisors or management.
• Adhere to daily assignments and project expectations from the Foreman.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment and report major problems.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and required documentation.
• Help train less-experienced team members in equipment operation, servicing, and repair.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Carry out other tasks as assigned.
