Job summary

CRH is seeking a Paving Equipment Operator to support heavy highway construction efforts. You will operate loaders, excavators, dozers, graders and backhoes, perform safety-driven daily checks, and coordinate with project leadership to meet goals.

Responsibilities include equipment inspections, teamwork, and maintaining a professional, safe work environment on site. Applicants should have construction experience and legal work eligibility in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Dedication to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and "Fit for Work" physical.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record; ability to complete safe driver training.
  • Responsible, punctual, and ready to work flexible hours when required.

  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. (documentation required).

Your Role

As a Paving Equipment Operator at CRH, you'll play a vital part in delivering top-quality construction projects. You will:

  • Operate a variety of advanced heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, and backhoes.
  • Follow equipment manuals and complete daily equipment checklists to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Work closely with your project manager and foreperson to meet daily project goals and maintain superior safety standards.
  • Perform thorough pre-start inspections, track service needs, and ensure all machinery is in excellent condition.
  • Coordinate with other operators onsite to optimize workflow and ensure project success.
  • Keep equipment clean and well-maintained, promoting a positive image and extending equipment life.
  • Adapt to new tasks and support your team as needed to keep projects moving forward.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
  • Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
