Job summary

APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Construction, a CRH Company, seeks a reliable construction laborer to support various highway and utility projects. You will follow safety protocols, assist with excavation, and help keep sites organized and productive.

The role requires the ability to operate basic tools, work outdoors in all weather, and travel as needed. This position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and steady attendance in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
• Safety-sensitive environment; follow OSHA/MSHA standards.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; willing to travel.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Support project goals as part of a collaborative team.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies and using PPE.
• Report unsafe conditions or incidents to management.
• Assist with construction and excavation across projects (treatment plants, water, sewer, etc.).
• Perform general labor duties (digging, spreading, leveling materials).
• Signal equipment operators for safe material movement.
• Operate small power tools and assist with heavy equipment as needed.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and document findings.
