Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an Equipment Operator – Matting Solutions in Columbia, MS. You will perform day-to-day operation of heavy equipment, conduct safety inspections, and maintain equipment logs in varying weather conditions.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and 0-1 year of experience operating heavy equipment on large projects. Strong safety awareness and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write fluently (English).
• Valid driver’s license.
• 0-1 year of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
• Ability to operate equipment independently, self-directed with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of safety hazards on construction projects and inspection principles.
• Skill in reading and interpreting Access and Construction Plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks with proper documentation.
• Participate in routine maintenance (greasing, etc.) and ensure safe storage of equipment.
• Communicate effectively with site personnel and maintain workplace safety.
• Operate all heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage and maintenance.
• Understand ground signals and maintain eye contact with ground personnel; perform other duties as assigned.
