Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an Installation Technician I – Matting Solutions to oversee the day-to-day operation of heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient work across weather conditions. Formerly YAK ACCESS, Matting Solutions is now part of United Rentals and leads right-of-way access projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and 0–1 year of equipment operation experience on large construction sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; fluency in English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 0–1 year of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
• Ability to operate equipment independently, with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of safety hazards in construction projects and inspection principles.
• Skill in reading and interpreting Access and Construction Plans.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel with extensive overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, with documentation in compliance with policies.
• Participate in routine maintenance such as greasing and safe storage of equipment.
• Communicate effectively with site personnel and uphold workplace safety.
• Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage and maintenance.
• Understand ground signals and maintain eye contact with ground personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
