Job summary

The Town of Arlington is seeking two skilled Motor Equipment Operator III to join our Public Works team. One position in the Tree Department and one in the Highway Department.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safe operation under supervision. Valid MA CDL with airbrake/tanker endorsements and Hoisting Engineer’s License are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; three years of experience operating heavy motor equipment.
• Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake and tanker endorsements (CDL).
• Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to perform digging, trenching, and material handling as assigned.
• Plows and sands streets; performs preventive maintenance and checks on equipment.
• Maintains vehicle readiness and safety equipment; ensures fluids and tires are in good condition.
• Follows safety procedures and maintains a clean, orderly work area; may supervise others.
