Nucor Corporation in Gastonia, NC is hiring an Equipment Operator II to support daily yard operations, material flow, and production goals. You will operate heavy equipment, follow safety procedures, and contribute to our pay-for-performance culture with weekly pay and production bonuses.

This hands-on role requires 3+ years with heavy equipment, ability to work outdoors in all weather, and overtime flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operation experience — scrap metal, construction, or manufacturing preferred.
• Hands-on experience with cranes, loaders, or similar heavy machinery.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, hazards, and safety precautions.
• Mechanically inclined — able to spot issues and keep equipment running.
• Dependable — punctual and able to work every shift.
• Able to stand or walk for up to 12 hours.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in heat and all weather conditions.
• Flexible to overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must pass a hair drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.
• Operate cranes, loaders, and heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
• Load scrap material onto shredder feed conveyors and move material throughout the yard.
• Load trucks and railcars according to production and shipping requirements.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with yard housekeeping.
