Job summary

City of Palm Bay seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator I to perform operation of motor grader, excavator, dozer, trackhoe and related heavy equipment for road, drainage and utility projects. Under limited supervision, you will also perform basic maintenance and document tasks in CMMS.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of heavy equipment experience, and a valid Florida Class A CDL with endorsements and a clean driving record.

• 3 years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment.
• Valid Florida Class A CDL with endorsements and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment (Motor Grader, RT Excavator, Dozer, Trackhoe, Vacuum/Jetter) for roads, drainage, utilities and related projects.
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs; keeps CMMS records up to date.
• Inspects work sites for safety, sets barricades and signs, assists with route directions as needed.
• May train other staff and support cross-department projects; works with limited supervision.
