Job summary

The City of Laredo seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to maintain streets and support paving projects. You will operate street sweepers, patchers, and other equipment and perform basic maintenance when needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Knowledge of safe operations of heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of geography of the City including major streets and landmarks.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a street sweeper to maintain City streets clean.
• Performs basic maintenance on equipment and tools including washing, changing oil, and greasing.
• May assist in performing unskilled or semi-skilled labor on paving projects.
• May transport heavy equipment on lowboy.
• May assist in training new employees and in supervising workers.
