Job summary

The City of Anderson, SC seeks a Motor Equipment Operator I to perform duties operating heavy equipment and maintaining assigned machinery. The role is full-time with benefits, reporting to the Public Works Street department.

Must possess a CDL and a valid state driver’s license. The position requires compliance with safety rules, routine maintenance, and precise record-keeping while supporting sanitation, streets, and stormwater operations.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license; must be able to obtain a CDL license.
• Ability to copy, transcribe, enter data or post information.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and performing routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of light to heavy equipment as assigned.
• Maintain and inspect equipment; document work and fuel records.
• Attend training, meetings and respond to after-hours calls as needed.
• Perform sanitation, streets and stormwater duties per department needs.
