Job summary

Weeks Marine is seeking an Intermediate Equipment Operator to operate heavy construction equipment in a shipyard environment, performing excavation, grading and road maintenance. You will work in challenging outdoor conditions, following safety rules and instructions from supervision.

The role requires ability to climb and work at heights, lift up to heavy loads, and work overtime as needed. You must live within commuting distance of Houma, LA and possess a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with prior field experience.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication with supervision.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights‑of‑way including loading, hauling and dumping on smooth to extremely rough surfaces.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Knowledgeable of equipment in respect to checking and maintaining all fluid levels and lubrication.
• May instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must live within local commuting area and have a valid driver's license
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
